Data (computer data): The representation of facts (e.g. measurements) or concepts produced or converted into a computer-readable form.

In information theory, information is the knowledge that a sender conveys to a recipient via an information channel. The information can take the form of signals or code. For the recipient, the information leads to an increase in knowledge.
