Corley, a graduate of Belmont University, currently serves as Athletic Director for the Bruin Athletic Program. As such, he oversees all transformational facility projects within the department such as Crockett Center for Athletic Excellence benefiting men’s basketball, women’s basketball, volleyball and baseball and Rose Park Indoor Practice Facility serving softball, soccer tennis and women’s golf players.

As Director of Athletics at Belmont University, his primary role is to steer the program to achieve championship results through recruiting and developing outstanding student-athletes. Under his direction, Belmont’s varsity athletic programs have developed into some of the top competitions within their conference and beyond.

He defends manufacturers in complex product liability litigation at both trial and appellate levels, including mass torts involving drugs, medical devices and motor vehicles as well as multidistrict cases nationwide. Furthermore, he represents individuals in family law matters, civil rights claims and criminal prosecutions.

Achievement and Honors

Daniel Corley had lived his entire life in Delaware, Ohio. As a member of New Mt. Sinai COGIC in Columbus, he made sure he spent plenty of time with family and loved ones during his storied life.

He graduated with high honors and was an active member of Beta Gamma Sigma (a business honor fraternity); Alpha Phi Omega (a service organization); and Silver Spurs (an honorary group). Additionally, he served as student senator and was involved in many extracurricular activities.

Illinois State provided Dan with the tools he needed to nurture an entrepreneurial mindset and strong work ethic, leading him to own and operate The Punchdown natural wine bar in California and serve as adjunct professor at California State University, Fresno. His areas of research interest include postcolonial literatures and theory, black cultural studies and gender theory.

Personal Life

Corley is also a passionate golfer, having played on several courses such as Pinehurst Resort and Country Club. A lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and immensely proud of his Irish roots.

He is blessed with three children and eight grandchildren whom he treasures greatly, while enjoying spending time in nature and the great outdoors. An accomplished chef, he enjoys reading and cooking. Having witnessed many historic events first-hand such as first flights into space aboard Spruce Goose or atrocities of war or terrorism first-hand; being a veteran of World War II as well as serving in United States Civil Service is no exaggeration!

Corley co-founded Dave & Buster’s restaurant chain in 1982 after coin tossing with David Corriveau as business partners, offering diners and gamers alike a taste of Las Vegas in an urban environment. Their first location opened its doors in Dallas Texas in 1982 – its name determined by an in-house coin flip!

Corley had an estimated net worth of $6 to $10 million. On January 2, 2023 in Texas at age 72 he apparently shot himself with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound and his death was confirmed by the restaurant chain that had created him as part of their eatertainment concept in the late 70s when operating separate businesses (Buster was running a restaurant, while Dave ran arcade games) adjacent each other in Little Rock Arkansas.
