Dan Hancock Dies at 59
Dan Hancock serves as Chairman of Loveland-based SuperTurbo Technologies Inc, Director of Westport Fuel Systems and Achates Power and President of DMH Strategic Consulting LLC – in addition to being an elected Member of the National Academy of Engineering.
Second generation San Franciscan, he graduated from Redwood High School and received his business degree at San Francisco College. He finds great joy in forging strong relationships with clients that become not only his professional network but also personal friends.
Early Life and Education
Daniel Hancock hails from Brisbane, Australia but was raised in Houston, Texas. As an accomplished performer he has taken part in numerous plays as well as competing nationally as a speech contestant. Additionally he has taught high school theatre and creative writing for several years.
Hancock graduated from the inaugural class of the Department of Defense Senior Leadership Development Program and Air War College. Additionally, he studied Arabic at Defense Language Institute before enrolling into Arabic language training classes.
Hancock decided to pursue his education after brief stints at Rotherham United, accepting an offer from Manchester Metropolitan University and graduating with distinctions and achieving over the required score of 280 UCAS points – this enabled him to study his dream subject: History.
Dan has extensive civilian experience working on IBM mainframe computers. Additionally, he held engineering and managerial roles at a large electronics-development company. Dan graduated from both the Department of Defense Senior Leadership Development Program and Air War College and received several unit commendations awards during this period.
He has directed multiple public and private events, such as the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Competition. Additionally, he coordinates its Los Angeles public school outreach programming as well as co-hosts its jazz radio show ExcursionsRadio.
He has also served on non-profit boards and graduated from Get on Board, an initiative of The Plantory. Furthermore, he enjoys participating in the arts and music as well as exploring new places with his wife and children.

He currently serves as Commanding Officer of PCU FRANK E PETERSEN JR (DDG 121) and will lead her through delivery, commissioning, and sail to her final homeport of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Dan Hancock outlived biblical expectations by living for threescore years and ten. A loving husband, father and son; brother; friend. Proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who helped young men attain Eagle Scout Awards.
Hancock brings extensive business experience to several corporations, having held executive roles at each such as serving as President of Strategic Product Alliances at GM and as President of Isuzu-Fiat-GM Powertrain joint ventures VM Motori and DMAX diesel engines joint ventures respectively. Furthermore, he is an honors graduate of both Army Management Staff College’s Senior Leader Development Program and Air War College.
At Shapell, he was involved with the design and development of several Bay Area communities such as Dougherty Valley in San Jose and Evergreen Hills in Gilroy.
