Early Life and Education

David Boddy, an alumnus of Chicago Booth’s MBA program and the first in his family to pursue academic education, began his academic journey with an impressive undergraduate education and professional experience that included Hiram House Camp in Cleveland and the VA Department of Education in Richmond. However, when it came time for him to get his MBA he sought something more unusual and less mainstream – which led him to CBF (Chicago Booth Fellows) program where he found an invaluable introduction into the business world.

Professional Career

David Boody had an illustrious career in high school education. He taught History and Geography at several schools throughout South Carolina, while also coaching football and track. Named a State Champion, Boody was inducted into both the South Carolina Coaches Hall of Fame as well as Woodruff High School’s hall of fame.

His passion for teaching chess led him to join the Chess Center in Charlotte, NC. He also teaches other subjects at schools such as technology and bullying prevention, fitness and traveling. At school, he advocates for STEM (Science, Math and Engineering), encouraging students to pursue careers in these fields. Recently he visited Fleet Week New York event to demonstrate Sailors’ skills at Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).

David Boundy has been a lawyer for over two and half decades, specializing in intellectual property law. He is widely recognized as one of the 300 top intellectual property strategists worldwide and an active author and speaker on patent and administrative law – particularly software engineering issues.

He was named a Super Lawyer for his accomplishments in the legal profession and has been listed among the top ten of New York’s most influential attorneys. His most significant feat lies within jurisprudence where he created one of the longest and most complex legal arguments ever presented to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. As member of ABA/AIPLA Intellectual Property Committee, he served as lead counsel on two patent rule challenges (2006-09 Continuations and 5/25 claims) before being called upon to testify in several high profile cases where his expertise in patent law was put to good use.
