Early Life and Education

Steve Hearn was born in Billericay Essex, 30 miles east of London in England. From an early age he showed an interest in art, first drawing on his bedroom walls before traveling around providing caricature entertainment services! Today his passion continues.

Hearn serves in various community organizations, such as Clinton United Church, Clinton Minor Soccer and Goderich Laketown Band. A staunch supporter of Apple products and ardent Rush fan, Hearn is also known for being an Apple enthusiast and champion.

Hearn is an esteemed leader in the library field, leaving his intellectual mark on committee reports, publications and online platforms like PCCLIST. Even during heated discussions on these platforms, Hearn remains civilized and open-minded – his goal being not necessarily winning but rather progressing the discussion forward.

Professional Career

Hearn is widely acknowledged for his expertise in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market, holding various leadership roles at global brokering firm Brokerslink and serving on the board of London Market Group (LMG) and Insurance Institute of London.

He has been an active presenter at national and regional cataloging conferences, authoring articles about RDA workflow. Additionally, he serves as chair of the North American RDA Committee as well as numerous PCC task groups.

Hearn is an accomplished caricaturist who regularly attends the national convention of the International Society of Caricaturists. A dedicated customer service professional, Hearn takes great pleasure in delivering exceptional results for his clients and prides himself on providing superior service. Additionally, He is also a three-time world championship power boat racer in 5 liter class power boat races.

Personal Life

Hearn is passionate about music and his drumming is his chosen form of expression. Hearn serves as Assistant Principal Timpani & Section Percussion with Colorado Symphony Orchestra as well as performing at numerous Percussive Arts Society International Conventions. Additionally he can be found playing for Hearn & Thin Buckle band.

Hearn also contributed to the Rheostatics’ 1999 album, Music Inspired by the Group of Seven, co-composing and playing keyboards. Additionally, Hearn maintains a cottage on Lake Michigan where he spent much of his childhood time. Today he spends much time there with his family.

Hearn’s hobby includes travel and an obsession for classic and exotic sports cars – his personal collection boasts classics as well as exotic models. Furthermore, Hearn uses his drone for filming his journeys. Additionally, Hearn is an avid reader with strong political interest.
