Arctic Cat is back
After the American group Textron took over the ATV, side-by-side and snowmobile manufacturer Arctic Cat at the beginning of 2017 for almost 250 million US dollars (around 218 million euros), the ATV and SxS division of the traditional company was named The manufacturer quickly switched to ‘Textron Off Road’. With this label, the Americans promised themselves more market presence and more sales in the long term. Only the snowmobiles continued to be sold as the Arctic Cat.
But now, almost two years later, the role is coming backwards: In the future, all ATVs and SxS will again be advertised and sold as Arctic Cat. Textron itself celebrates this as great news, arguing: “Passion can change people. Change mindset. And in the end, it can take us to where our family has always been. As Arctic Cat fans and powersport enthusiasts have asked for it, the name ‘Arctic Cat’ will return to ATVs and side-by-sides in 2019. After all, these high-performance vehicles are still and proudly made in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. “
Arctic Cat spare parts supply from England in future
The Americans are also breaking new ground with the reorganization of their European business. The previous European headquarters is currently being relocated from Sankt Johann, Austria, to Great Britain, which is facing Brexit. In the future, all activities are to be concentrated in Ipswitch, the headquarters of the golf cart manufacturer Ransomes Jacobsen, which is also part of Textron. In terms of support for the markets in German-speaking countries, however, little is expected to change: The sales team for Germany and Austria is to be retained, and Snopex is still responsible for the Swiss market as the importer.
The parts warehouse has been relocated to England step by step for a few weeks now. So far, this has not worked very smoothly, which led to some problems with the supply of spare parts. These problems should be resolved in February.
From the end of July 2019, according to Textron, all of Arctic Cat’s European activities will be handled via the location in Great Britain. kku
