He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years Helen; 4 children Brenda Reed Scott of Brazil, Penni Reed of Indianapolis and Tom Reed of Martinsville; 2 brothers Roy Reed from Florida and Paul Gene Reed from Arizona; 3 grandchildren Justin Reed Scott, Whitney Nicole Scott and Shelby Lynae Reed as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Achievement and Honors

Casey Brayton has recently been recognized with a national Truman Scholarship that grants her $30,000 toward graduate school tuition and special programming to prepare her for leadership in public service. With this money to her disposal and an education geared toward marine science research and governance issues at hand, Casey hopes to pursue a career as physical oceanographer. She plans on using her knowledge and research skills in helping address marine science-related problems like environmental policy or ocean governance policies.

As part of her research, Dr. Kaur has earned several accolades and awards; among these was winning the Phil Kaufman award in 2007. This was in recognition of her exceptional contributions to design automation algorithms used for fabricating integrated circuits.

IBM developed the Yorktown Silicon Compiler project under her guidance, which pioneered combining logic synthesis with place-and-route algorithms. Her later work at UC Berkeley helped produce SPICE EDA software program – now used by industry giants Intel and DEC alike.

Personal Life

Thomas had lived in Edwards for many years and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW and Operating Engineers. He leaves behind his wife Florence; two daughters with their husbands (Lucinda Wolfers of Cannon City and Margo Wood (E-9 USN(RET), both in Georgia) as well as four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Thomas was born in 1713 in Rhode Island and married Mary PHILLIPS the following month (at age 18) at their marriage location (Rhode Island).
