David Bard
David Bard is a Partner at The Halifax Group, a Private Equity firm that works with managers and entrepreneurs to recapitalize companies. He joined the firm in 2018 and is responsible for helping with investment sourcing, due diligence and execution.
He holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a Masters of Philosophy in Economics from Cambridge, where he was a Gates Scholar. Additionally, he completed the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology at The University of Pennsylvania.

Bard, a former college professor and longtime trustee of Albion College, has served as bishop in the Michigan Conference since 2006. Additionally, he has served on several General Church committees and boards such as the Study on Ministry Commission and North Central Jurisdiction Committee on Episcopacy.
He has long been an advocate for greater diversity in New York City’s most esteemed schools. At Bard High School Early College, which he oversees, about 4 out of 10 students are Black or Hispanic according to data provided by the Department of Education.
He has also advocated for the construction of an early college campus in South Bronx that prioritizes local families. This facility will open this fall, seeking to address a perennial tension between academic rigor and equity at some of New York City’s most selective public schools.
Professional Career
David Bard’s professional baseball career spanned more than ten years. He began as a starting pitcher in the minor leagues before transitioning to the bullpen.
He began his professional baseball career with the Boston Red Sox from 2007-2009 before being traded to the Colorado Rockies in 2013. Throughout his tenure with the Rockies, he has remained a formidable pitcher, capable of hitting 100 miles per hour on his fastball.
He boasts a powerful arm and can throw both his fastball and slider with ease. Furthermore, his command of pitches has been impressive throughout his career; including an impressive save against the Chicago White Sox on August 26th.
