Sydney-based creative Rankin lives an active life under her pirate name Jack River, taking on all kinds of challenges as life throws her her way. Her sophomore LP Endless Summer will be released this Friday.

Early Life and Education

Jack had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. While discussing going to college with his family, he ultimately chose business over college as his path forward.

As a businessman, he became obsessed with land acquisition. He purchased out farmers who failed to pay their property taxes on time; even foreclosing on their mortgages without notifying them first.

Oregon Bulb Farms was his other business; here he specialized in growing high-grade Asiatic/Oriental lilies commercially for sale. Additionally, he operated a Piper Aircraft distributorship in the Pacific Northwest. Furthermore, he owned a company which repaired and sold radios and appliances; also serving on the board of trustees of a local hospital; leaving his estate to three Trustees to establish the Melvin J. “Jack” Murdock Charitable Trust to foster and enhance educational, cultural, social lives for children, families, and communities alike.

Professional Career

Jack has been certified by the State Bar of California as a specialist in appellate law. Additionally, he practices employment law representing both large and small employers on matters including complex contractual, discrimination, harassment, wage & hour, employee leave and trade secret issues.

Jack spent three seasons in the major leagues, first with St. Louis where he hit.317 and led all National League first basemen in errors during 1921; then two in Brooklyn, finishing second only to Rogers Hornsby for home runs each season.

In 1928 he played for Newark of the International League, where he batted an impressive.288 with 22 homers and 91 RBIs before leaving baseball as a player permanently; later becoming involved with baseball administration work.

Additionally he dedicated himself to preserving its history by founding the Point Pleasant River Museum as well as safeguarding artifacts that would otherwise be lost to time.
