I can embellish my number plate with stickers

The license plate blog drew attention to this car error a few days ago: You are not allowed to adapt your license plate to your own wishes. This includes, for example, pasting over the EU coat of arms. The occasional coat of arms of a football club or a region in the middle of the EU stars is also not allowed.

The Vehicle Registration Ordinance (FZV) states:

“License plates may not be additionally provided with glass, foil or similar covers (§ 10 FZV)

If you do it anyway, you have to reckon with legal consequences. In the case of a lady who had pasted a German flag over the EU symbol, the authorities wrote to her requesting that the defects be rectified or that the vehicle be taken out of service. (To the verdict/legal text)
