John Plansky
John Plansky is a Senior Vice President at State Street Corporation, having recently joined them from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2017.
At PwC, he served as the head of its US strategy business and global platforms divisions.
He has extensive experience leading global teams, growing businesses and integrating teams with different capabilities and skill sets for superior outcomes. This expertise he brings to his role as Global Head of State Street Global Exchange.
Early Life and Education
Plansky earned an All-New England selection to the Boston College Eagles while attending Wakefield High School. A natural leader, Plansky excelled on the court and earned himself respect among his peers while leading his team to ten wins during the 2016-17 season.
John was an avid fitness enthusiast, even in his later years. His favorite pastimes included hunting for deer, taking pictures of bears and fishing for sturgeon, catfish and walleyes. Additionally, he had an avid Green Bay Packers fan with an impressive collection of memorabilia. Unfortunately however, his battle with ALS took its toll and John passed away on September 10, 2007. His family is indebted to all who loved and supported him throughout this ordeal; especially strangers who showed kindness towards them.
Professional Career
Plansky was an accomplished athlete who excelled in many different sports. In 1924, he won the AAU decathlon title; two years later he became a star fullback at Georgetown University and earned himself an All-Pro football spot with the New York Giants.
He spent 48 years coaching track and cross country at Williams College, earning himself a place in the college’s Hall of Fame.
At State Street, he oversees Alpha, the industry’s first front office-to-back office services platform from a single provider. Additionally, he oversees Charles River Development, Alpha Data Platform, Data and Middle Office Services and Alpha strategic partners.
Personal Life
Plansky was born in Omro, Wisconsin and had a passion for fitness that extended to golfing, woodworking and vintage cars.
He met Jane Lindsey in 1992 and married her the following year. Together they had two children and enjoyed many happy moments together.
John was an incredible dad and loving husband. His sisters Jeanne Crone (Richard) of Madison, WI; Mary Glicksman of Monument, CO; Joan Brown from Madison WI; Kathy O’Connor of Sherrard, IL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews were deeply saddened by his passing.
He had an affinity for sports, especially watching his hometown Boston Celtics play. Although he had always intended to attend Duke, Villanova eventually accepted him and played for them during his freshman season – earning praise from his dad in the process.
