Early Life and Education

Harrison attended Kent State University and played football before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2002. Since then he has won two Super Bowl rings.

Professional Career

After his college basketball career was complete, Harrison moved back to Texas and began teaching and coaching high school students at Hillcrest, Cedar Hill and Little Elm High Schools within Dallas Independent School District (DISD). Additionally he has served as assistant head football coach, defensive coordinator and track coach.

He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2002 and played 12 seasons with them, winning two Super Bowls during his time. He currently ranks second on their all-time list of sack leaders.

He quickly established a reputation in the NFL for his hard-hitting style of defense and leadership on the field, often receiving fines for hits against opponents; one memorable instance being against LaDainian Tomlinson during Super Bowl XL.

Achievement and Honors

Harrison earned All-MAC conference first team selection during his college football career, recording 8.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles to go along with 98 total tackles and leading in pass deflections.

Harrison proved his basketball prowess on the court, too. He played an integral part in BYU’s run to the 2022 NCAA Tournament, scoring 12 points against Iona while also collecting three rebounds and setting an NCAA Tournament record of 15 three-point shots made.

He achieved an unprecedented level of efficiency against Egis Kormend in Hungary-A League play – posting 24 efficiency. This feat represents an extraordinary accomplishment by this gifted forward.

Personal Life

Harrison is an avid sports fan who takes great pleasure in spending time with his family. Currently in a relationship with Beth Tibbott and they share two children together: James Harrison III and Henry.

Harrison is also active in charitable work, working closely with Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina to grant wishes for local children. Harrison has appeared as a guest on several television programs such as NBC’s Saturday Night Live and ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Harrison recently returned to Utah, where he played basketball at BYU from 2009-2021. Recently he attended a pre-draft workout hosted by the Utah Jazz, who regularly invite prospects with local ties for workouts. Harrison noted the high altitude was challenging at first but is ready for it now.
